Harrah's Operating Company Inc., a Harrah's Entertainment Inc. subsidiary, has signed a deal with PokerTek that would bring PokerPro automated poker tables to Harrah's casinos.
Harrah's operates 50 casinos in 13 states and six countries around the world. Its more than 450 manual poker tables makes Harrah's one of the largest poker operators in the world.
As the proper regulatory approvals come through, Harrah's will begin installing PokerPro tables at casinos.
"We believe that there is a market for automated poker throughout our properties," said Gerry Tuthill, Harrah's corporate vice president of table games. "Poker continues to boom and many players who have learned the game enjoy the fast-paced action PokerPro tables offer."
"The World Series of Poker is a prestigious brand and we're excited to work with it," said James Crawford, PokerTek president. "To package the WSOP brand with PokerPro products should accelerate player adoption and interest in automated poker."
Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP commissioner, said the company welcomed the chance to extend the reach of the World Series through PokerPro tables, calling PokerTek a welcome addition to the team.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Harrah's," said Lou White, PokerTek CEO. "Harrah's has a long track record of successfully launching gaming innovations and we believe this transaction will benefit the PokerPro brand."
