Hailey wins Mid-South Poker Classic

It wasn't meant to be this time, baby!
By Sarah Polson
The Mid-South Poker Classic at the Cherokee Casino Resort wrapped up this week with Harold Hailey winning the two-day main event.
The inaugural Mid-South Poker Classic featured 20 events set over 12 days with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $1,000.
The overall count of players topped 3,000 and the tournament series featured more than $700,000 in prize pools. However, the main event was what poker fans were waiting to see.
The $1,080 No-Limit Hold'em event attracted 150 players and created a $145,500 prize pool. Among those was Scotty Nguyen, who'd been in town for the entire Mid-South Poker Classic.
True to reputation, Nguyen even made it all the way to the final table, where he was joined by players from across the region, including Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas and Nebraska.
Nguyen may be the Cherokee Casino's resident poker king, but the cards didn't fall his way at the final table of the main event. Instead it was Hailey, from Wister, Okla., who walked away with the Mid-South Poker Classic crown.
The final table played out as follows:
| Place | Name | Hometown | Prize |
| 1st | Harold Hailey | Wister, Okla. | $48,015 |
| 2nd | Josef Tittjung | Broken Arrow, Okla. | $26,481 |
| 3rd | Jeffrey Bryan | Ft. Calhoun, Neb. | $14,550 |
| 4th | Curtis Conners | Tulsa, Okla. | $11,640 |
| 5th | Scotty Nguyen | Las Vegas | $8,730 |
| 6th | Patrick Gallant | Kansas City, Kan. | $7,275 |
| 7th | Zackry Hendrix | Norman, Okla. | $5,820 |
| 8th | Larry Ogilbee | Austin, Texas | $4,365 |
| 9th | Michael Davis | Newcastle, Okla. | $2,910 |
