Hachem takes ANZPT title
Joe won't be the only Hachem wearing the PokerStars patch this year.
Thanks to the fact he cashed in four out of five events on the PokerStars.net Australia-New Zealand Poker Tour this season, Tony Hachem has won the tour's overall points race and will be a PokerStars sponsored player in all of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour events this season.
"I am very happy to be the PokerStars.net ANZPT Champion," Hachem said. "This tour has been a fantastic experience. I am looking forward to keeping up my good form when the APPT starts in Macau later this month."
The ANZPT actually wrapped up on Australia's Gold Coast this weekend with the first event Hachem failed to cash in.
Scott Kerr took down the 249-player dual-venue event that began at both the Conrad's Treasury Casino in Brisbane and Conrad's Jupiter's Casino at the Gold Coast to win the $168,075 first place prize.
"I am so happy to have won," Scott said. "It is has been such a great experience competing against so many great players."
By virtue of a third place finish in the event, Joel Dodd managed to take over third place in the overall points standings, winning a seat in the 2010 Aussie Millions.
Chris Levick, winner of ANZPT Melbourne, came second in the points race and won himself entry into every ANZPT event in Season 2.
The five-date ANZPT made stops at Adelaide's SkyCity Casino, Sydney's Star City Casino, Melbourne's Crown Poker Room, Queenstown SkyCity Casino, and the two Queensland venues this season awarding $2,982,196 in prize money.
Season 2 will begin in Adelaide at SkyCity Casino February 9-14, 2010 and PokerStars will likely run satellites in advance.
