Hachem and family to relocate to United States

By: Lianne Elias

2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion Joseph Hachem and his family are in the process of relocating to the United States so Hachem can pursue poker interests and business opportunities while remaining close to his brood.

Hachem, 39, has applied for an O-1 visa, which is granted to people with "extraordinary ability in sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics" and who are interested in residing in the United States for a period of up to 3 years. If granted, the Hachem family will uproot their life in Melbourne, Australia and temporarily moving to the Los Angeles-area which will allow Hachem to play in up to 9 major poker tournaments a year.

A move will also help the champ to fulfill his duties as the new PokerStars ambassador. Though no official announcement has been made regarding Hachem's status as a PokerStars ambassador, it is widely assumed he has signed on with the poker site.
