Gus Hansen Ruins Rui Cao

Gus Hansen only played 113 hands on Full Tilt last night but that was all he needed to dismantle Rui Cao.

Cao, who plays under his real name on FTP, had been off to a good start in 2011 with $424k in profit. That all changed last night when he took on Hansen at $500/$1,000 PLO.

Hansen absolutely stomped the Paris-based poker pro to the tune of $348k.

Meanwhile the Great Dane continued his extraordinary run in the high-stakes games on Full Tilt this year. Hansen is up over $2 million in the Pot-Limit Omaha games alone.

That epic $3.5 million downswing Hansen recorded last year is starting to become a distant memory for the high-stakes community.

Fellow Scandinavian Viktor “Isildur1” Blom was also busy last night and won $103k.

The major difference between Hansen and Blom’s sessions was that it took Blom 6,291 hands to record his victory.

Despite a number of good sessions lately, Blom is still essentially breaking even in online poker this year thanks to an early downswing.

Other big winners included Zypherin (+$50k) on PokerStars and NoPasaran (+$49k) and URnotINdanger2 (+$29k) on Full Tilt Poker.

Finally Rui Cao was the biggest loser, dropping $348k, but Shawn Buchanan (-$50k), wobbly_au (-$38k) and Josh Arieh (-$27k) also had regrettable nights.
