Gus Hansen mauls Ziigmund for $204,191 pot

Gus Hansen
Happy days for the Great Dane.

Online poker forum members love to post about Gus Hansen being a major fish in nosebleed poker games, but it appears that every once in a while, fish can bite back.

As of 1 p.m. ET today, Hansen is dominating the Top 10 Biggest Pots on's MarketPulse. In fact, in the top 10, Hansen has raked five pots each worth over $100,000, while losing just one, to sunra18 for $87,195.

It was all Pot-Limit Omaha, as is usually the case with those aggressive Europeans, and Hansen made his biggest scores versus Ziigmund, Brian "Sbrugby" Hastings and newcomer MR B 2 U SON (Benyamine perhaps?).

Hansen dragged a $204,191 pot from Ziigmund (Finnish player Ilari Sahamies) when he hit two pair on the turn and Ziggy held a pair and a flush draw. Apparently the hand was enough to get Ziigmund to call for the last $45,396 in front of him, and Hansen's hand held up.

Hansen seems to slowly be creeping toward getting himself even for the year at high-stakes poker. He's nowhere near the Top 10 No-Limit Hold'em Money Makers, which, as of Nov. 23, was dominated by players like Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, Phil Ivey and even the aforementioned Ziigmund.

You can read more about Hansen's exploits in the month of November in "Great Dane weathers November swings." You can watch the big dust-up between Ziigmund and Hansen below:

All the fuss about Gus.
