GUKPT Crowns Channing Champ
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour found returned to the Luton G Casino outside of London last week, crowning a veteran British pro champion.
Neil Channing won the £1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event that finished up Aug. 15, adding $101,958 to his more than $2.7 million in career live tournament earnings.
The event drew a total of 229 players and by the time they were down to ten, Channing had a stranglehold on the chip lead.
Pros Jeff Kimber and Joe Grech both made their fifth GUKPT final table, but could not outlast Channing, finishing ninth and eighth respectively.
Channing never really lost control, entered heads up play with a healthy lead and the match with second-place finisher Adebayo Odetoyinbo lasted mere minutes.
Next up for the GUKPT is the G Casino, Brighton. The £1,000 main event will go off Oct. 8-10.
