Gold hosts, wins BodogFight Celebrity Poker Tournament
2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion and Team Bodog.com pro Jamie Gold started as just the host of the first BodogFight Celebrity Poker Tournament in Vancouver, B.C. last weekend. Then he proved why he was a champ and a pro by winning it.
Held in conjunction with the BodogFight: USA vs Russia Pay-Per-View event, the private function had Gold and a variety of TV, film and sports stars competing for, among other things, a Giantto watch and a 2007 WSOP Main Event buy-in.
It was a heated tournament, they say, but Gold had too much for the field and came out on top. Winner of second-place and a seat at the 2007 WSOP Main Event courtesy of Bodog.com was Battlestar Galactica's Aaron Douglas.
Among the other celebs in attendance were Ryan Robbins, from the Canadian TV comedy "Alice, I Think;" Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural"); UFC champ Phil "The NY Badass" Baroni; Tom Europe (CFL Hall of Famer); Michael Eklund ("BloodRayne II; Deliverance," "Intelligence"); and Woody Jeffries ("Blond and Blonder").
