Full Tilt Poker will be running its Global Poker Challenge tournament tonight at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. The tournament will feature some of the best poker players in America teaming up to take on some the best poker players from around the globe.
One hundred players, including 10 online qualifiers, will be competing in the $5,000 buy-in double shootout event for the title of Global Poker Champion and the $500,000 prize purse.
The Global Poker Challenge will be filmed and is set to air in the United States on Fox Sports Net (FSN) in January 2006. It will be viewed by an additional 100 million viewers across the world when the tournament airs on various international broadcasting networks later next year.
"The Global Poker Challenge continues Full Tilt Poker's commitment to developing and supporting exciting televised poker events," said Ray Bitar, CEO of Tiltware, LLC, Full Tilt Poker's software development and marketing company. "We are very pleased to sponsor this unique tournament where professionals and amateurs will compete against one another -- and an opposing team -- to see where the best poker players in the world really come from."
This will be the fourth Full Tilt Poker television tournament this year. Previous events include the FullTiltPoker.net Championship At Wynn Las Vegas (aired on FSN in July), the Learn From the Pros series (currently airing on FSN), and the FullTiltPoker.net Invitational Live From Monaco (broadcast live around the world on American Thanksgiving Day).
