Global Online Gambler Report scheduled for January release

By Sarah Polson

The online gambling player protection and standards authority eCommerce and Online Gambling Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA) announced this week that it plans to release its Global Online Gambler Report in January.

The report documents the opinions of approximately 11,000 online poker and casino players worldwide. Players had a chance to address issues relating to poker, casinos, player protection, responsible gambling and luck.

In addition to the survey that was undertaken for the report, eCOGRA also conducted focus groups in major markets.

According to eCOGRA, the results will create a better understanding of players' needs and concerns. That information could prove vital for sites that want to continue to offer players a rewarding and safe online gambling experience.

"The early indications show that there will be some surprises in the report," said Andrew Beveridge, eCOGRA CEO, "and we think it will be very revealing for industry insiders and a wider public."

The results will be released during a press conference Jan. 23 at 10:30 local time in London.
