GBPT finds winner in Bournemouth

The event may have been dominated by local casino goers, but the Great British Poker Tour main event in Bournemouth also drew several pros, online qualifiers and celebrities, and it was Pete Singleton from Alsagar who won it.

Singleton took on a field of 140 players that included pros Paul Jackson, Joe Beevers, Jen Mason and Paul Dempsey.

Some familiar faces also taking seats at the tournament were Gerry O'Farrell, who took second at the GBPT in Edinburgh, Steve Holden the GBPT Nottingham winner, rugby stars Mike Tindall and Matt Dawson, and ex-footballer Tony Cascarino.

Day 1 of the tournament was split into two days, and once the second day was played out, Tindall looked like he was putting his rugby skills to good use by running over the rest of the pack.

He was chip leader going into Day 2 up against the 29 remaining players.

It was Singleton, however, who eventually came from behind to win. He took home a £20,000 top prize as well as a seat in the GBPT Grand Final in Bristol in beginning in late October.

The final GBPT tournament before the Grand Final will be in Leeds Aug. 15-19.
