Galfond Shatters Isildur1, Wins $452k
Phil Galfond gave Viktor “Isildur1” Blom a thrashing on PokerStars this weekend that would make most poker players quit the game altogether.
Blom, who had been running hot online over the last week, was a man possessed over the weekend and played over 7,300 hands.
He started out fine, in fact Blom went on a tremendous upswing in the early part of the weekend that saw him peak at over $500k in profit thanks to some huge wins against Jeans89 and Theo J.
As time wore on, however, he started to lose and after dropping a decent chunk of cash to 1-ronnyr3 he made the disastrous mistake of taking on Galfond, who plays as MrSweets28 on PokerStars, at heads-up $100/$200 Pot-Limit Omaha.
It’s not the first time Blom has been completely derailed by Galfond and it likely won’t be the last either.
When the session finally ended Isildur1 had obliterated his profit and was down close to $134k meaning he went on a $634k downswing over the last two days.
Meanwhile Galfond finished with $452k and has to be considered the hottest player online right now. Since moving to Canada to play on PokerStars, Galfond has won over $1 million on the site.
If he continues to be this profitable, you have to wonder if Galfond will ever leave Canada.
Galfond was by far the biggest winner this weekend but Zypherin (+$140k), refaelamit (+$116k), Kanu7 (+$91k) and benito1982 (+$82) all had decent scores.
Theo “Theo J” Jorgensen was technically the biggest loser over the weekend as he dropped a total of $144k. Most of that was donated to Isildur1, who re-gifted it to Galfond.
Socutiesf (-$128k) was yet another Isildur1 casualty while 1-ronnyr3 (-$68) was actually successful against Blom but proceeded to lose all of his profit to a variety of opponents.
Rounding out the top five biggest losers was Niki “RealAndyBeal” Jedlicka who lost $61k.
The fireworks may not be over, either, as of this morning Isildur1 and Galfond were playing $25/$50 PLO.
