Galfond Returns, Mizzi Debuts for Berlin to Begin GPL Week 7

Galfond the Great returns!

Outside of the rave reviews for the looks of his home on the webcam, Phil Galfond's debut in the Global Poker League didn't exactly go to plan.

Coming way back in Week 2, Galfond - despite playing technically great poker and masterfully explaining his thought process - was swept by Jason Mercier in their heads-up match.

He collected zero points for the San Francisco Rush which, unfortunately, has been a theme for the Rush and left them at the bottom of the standings in the Americas conference.

Five weeks later Galfond appears to be over the shell shock - or at least his schedule has opened up - and will return for the felt for the Rush in Week 7.

He'll face an eclectic set of opponents tomorrow in two sets of 6-Max matches starting at 3:30 pm ET. Among them are German wunderkind Fedor Holz, Season 12 EPT Player of the Year Mike "Timex" McDonald and Twitch Poker rep Scott Ball.

Mizzi Tags In, Just Aaron Paul Left

One week after Brian Rast finally made his debut, the last of the Berlin Bears to tag in for GPL play will also make his.

Sorel Mizzi
Limbered up and ready.

Sorel "Imper1um" Mizzi will step up to try and collect some much needed points for the similarly bottom-of-the-table Bears.

Despite Rast's solid showing last week the Bears sit tied with the Rome Emperors for last in the Eurasia conference and are surely hoping Mizzi will perform well to put them back in playoff position.

With Mizzi finally getting in the action that leaves just the high-profile celebrity of the Global Poker League, Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, to appear.

Much like Galfond, Mizzi will also face an eclectic group of foes ranging from all-time online MTT winner Chris Moorman to old schooler Todd Brunson to relative unknown Guo Dong.

Action begins with the Eurasia Conference matches starting at 9 am Pacific Time. Check the lineups below and watch the stream live on Twitch.
