The Full Tilt Online Poker Series V has come and gone, but now that Full Tilt Poker has had some time to breathe and analyze the latest series, it has found the tournaments were more successful than expected.

The FTOPS V was made up of 14 events with a total of $7 million in guaranteed prize money up for grabs. However, the series' popularity overwhelmed expectations, drawing huge fields for each event and swelling the total combined prize pool to more than $10.5 million, according to Full Tilt Poker.

Every event bested its original guarantee, with four events growing to more than $1 million in total prize money.

"The FTOPS series proves that things happen faster and bigger online," said Howard Lederer, Team Full Tilt member. "In a little over a year, the prize pools have gone up over 5-1 and we expect an even bigger series in just a few months' time."

One of the top draws for the tournament was Event 12, hosted by Phil Ivey. The No-Limit Hold'em event had a $2,500 buy-in which drew 648 players to boost the $600,000 guaranteed pot to $1,620,000.

The main event was hosted by Paul Wasicka and had a $500 buy-in. By the time the 4,578 entrants had paid their buy-ins, the $2 million guarantee was up to $2.2 million.

In total, nearly 25,000 players participated in the FTOPS V events, making this the most successful tournament series in Full Tilt Poker history.

Some of those players were none other than the Team Full Tilt members. The events were all hosted by pros, and many others showed up to play as well.
