Foxwoods debuts new WPT-themed poker room

Foxwoods Resort Casino unveiled its newly renovated and expanded poker room yesterday in an opening ceremony attended by legendary poker ambassador and World Poker Tour (WPT) host Mike Sexton and ex-Baywatch babe Carmen Electra. The occasion marked the introduction of the world's first WPT-branded poker room, a 114-table, state-of-the-art venue called the WPT Poker Room at Foxwoods.

Ms. Electra was invited to walk the red carpet, sip a $3,000 martini complete with a diamond encrusted stirrer and a set of emerald earrings, and deal the first poker hand at the opening event, which hosted a $25,000 VIP charity tournament where participating media representatives and celebrities competed to donate the total prize pool to their charity of choice.

The opening also hosted hundreds of poker enthusiasts who turned up to compete for qualifying seats to the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship to be held on April 6, 2006.

The Fifth Street Café, a 100-seat restaurant, was included in the expansion project and opened adjacent to the poker venue yesterday.
