Fossilman Challenge to run this April

2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner Greg Raymer will be hosting the Fossilman Challenge, a seminar and poker tournament, on Sunday, April 9, 2006, it was recently announced. The one day event is being sponsored by the World Tavern Poker Tour and will run at the Little River Gold Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

"I will be giving a talk about poker and poker tournament strategy, and you will play in a tournament where I will join in at the final table and provide feedback and critique of your play," says Raymer on his website.

"You will also have a chance to watch me play live on as I take on the TLB winner for the preceding week during the lunch break."

Raymer is scheduled to lead a one-hour seminar detailing his poker playing strategy. Topics covered will include position play; understanding pot odds; playing heads-up; common amateur mistakes; reading tells; when and when not to bluff; strategies for playing online; and differences between a pro player and an amateur.

The Fossilman will discuss how he won the WSOP in 2004 and what it took for him to place 25th in 2005. A Q&A period will also be held. In addition, participants will watch and listen to Mr. Raymer as he plays a heads-up match online against a fellow pro during lunch.

Following the seminar, a 200-person freeroll will be held where final table competitors play against Raymer. The top 3 finishers will win special trophies featuring a real fossil as part of the design.

The poker champ will be available to sign autographs and discuss strategy with players. All Fossilman Challenge participants will enjoy a gourmet lunch, receive a Fossilman Challenge shirt and poker chip, and are eligible for great prizes throughout the day.
