Fedor Holz Claims WCOOP Main Event for $1.3m, Isildur1 9th

Three astounding weeks of online poker culminated last night in a WCOOP Main Event finale that lived up to all expectations - especially for winner Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz.

Outlasting a final table that included Viktor "Isildur1" BlomFaraz "The-Toilet 0" JakaElior "CrazyElior" SionTodd "MaltLiquor40" Sisley and Dylan "Pokerl)evil" Hortin, Fedor Holz claimed $1.3m for the win.

With an original $1.8m due to the winner, the remaining players six-handed agreed to an ICM deal that left $200k on the table to play for.

Incredible Year for Holz Gets Even Better

A massive 2,142 players registered for the last of this year's 66 WCOOP events and 36 hours after the start only two were left – Holz, who lives in Austria, and Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins from Brazil.

Heads-up play only lasted a few minutes and it came to a memorable end when Holz hit quads on the river to best Martins’ full house.

Quad 10s a fitting way to finish

It's been an incredible year for the young German poker pro who only a month ago topped the Gold leaderboard at EPT Barcelona by winning a side event and cashing in three more.

PokerListings caught up with him in Barcelona and learned about his major staking activities which, by the sounds of it, included mentoring another WCOOP Main Even champ in PlayinWasted.

Now it looks like it would be a very good idea to invest in him, too, as he has just become the new champion of the online poker world.

After the six-way deal on the final table, these are the payouts:

  • 1. Fedor CrownUpGuy Holz, Austria - $1,300,000*
  • 2. Yuri theNERDguy Martins, Brazil - $708,251*
  • 3. neckbr4ake, Germany - $651,430*
  • 4. Elior CrazyElior Sion, UK - $780,227*
  • 5. Faraz The-Toilet 0 Jaka, Poland - $945,000*
  • 6. Daniel “19Dan86” Rudd, UK - $769,813*
  • 7. Dylan Pokerl)evil Hortin, Canada - $214,200
  • 8. Todd MaltLiquor40 Sisley, Canada - $160,650
  • 9. Viktor Isildur1 Blom, UK - $107,100
  • *6-way deal

Blom Out First at Final Table After Running Jacks into Kings

Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom: As good as advertised

At the time of the deal Holz held a large chiplead so even without the $200k to play for he was sure to leave with the largest paycheck.

The only player potentially able to win even more was Faraz Jaka, who eventually busted in fifth place.

At that time Blom was already shaking off the frustration of making a final table in such a big event and then having to leave first.

The Swedish online legend, who rarely plays tournaments but has won the SCOOP Main Event title, showed he's always a force to be reckoned with.

He was the chip leader as action got close to the final table but lost most of his stack in a big JJ > KK hand against Sion.

High-Profile Players All Over Final 16

The whole final table was studded with professionals including Canadians Hortin and Sisley and Sion from Britain.

Martins, by the way, didn’t just start playing the WCOOP main event on Sunday evening. He also registered for a $162 regular tournament on PokerStars and beat out 2,130 players for a win and $50,000.

Sion had reached another WCOOP final table just hours before the main event started in Event 63, $2,100 HORSE. He came third for $41k.

Several other high-profile players just missed the final. Full Tilt Million winner Jeremy EndlessJ Menard came 11th. Francisco Chiconoglu Nogueira, who finished in 12th, had already locked up a WCOOP title this year in Event 53, $215 NLHE Big Antes.

Former Sunday million winner Andrius benislovas Bielskis busted in 13th place and Andre Akkari had his best result as a member of Team PokerStars Pro finishing in 16th place.

Mr Negreanu (Not that Negreanu) is Player of the Series

The winner of the tournament leader board of the 2014 edition of the World Championship of Online Poker is Alan Mr Negreanu Gold from Great Britain.

Impressively, he managed to do so without winning any of the events. However, he cashed 17 times and made two final tables. In Event 15, $320 Stud, he earned second place.

Gold's 17 cashes were topped only by former SCOOP champion vovtroy from Russia, who reached the money in 19 WCOOP tournaments.

Nicolas PKaiser Fierro from Chile and RolldUpTrips managed to reach three final tables but the most dangerous and efficient players of the WCOOP 2014 were Scott AggroSantos Margerson (UK), Assad91 (Norway)and WhatIfGod (Sweden).

All three players reached two final tables each and won both. Canada as a country claimed the most cashes, most money won, most final tables and most entrants to the WCOOP 2014 but Russian players won the most events: nine compared to eight for Canada.

The $5,200 WCOOP main event featured a $10,000,000 guarantee that was surpassed at $10,710,000. Overall almost $62m was won over the course of the last three weeks.
