Familiar faces to help run 2007 WSOP
By Erin Warner
Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. added veteran poker officials Jack Effel and Robert Daily to its 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) staff roster Monday.
Effel will serve as the tournament director monitoring dealer and floor-person personnel, rules, payout percentages, structures for mega- and super-satellites and second-chance tournaments. Daily is to work as the event director managing accounting, auditing and cage operations, in addition to office staffing, registration and convention services.
Howard Greenbaum, Harrah's western division vice president of specialty gaming, is leading next year's WSOP operations. He will oversee Effel and Daily - both of whom served as 2006 WSOP tournament directors and, as Greenbaum noted, "know the poker business inside out."
"Improving tournament operations is our top priority for 2007," said WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. "Howard will provide clear leadership and one-stop shopping on all things poker, and Jack and Bob will manage the tournament and event operations day-to-day. This is a winning combination that deepens our bench and will result in a better experience for players and spectators."
