Everest Poker to crown first EPEC champion
By Sarah Polson
The Everest Poker European Championship (EPEC) is down to its final days with its first amateur champion soon to be crowned Sept. 9 in the Casino de Barcelona in Spain.
More than 20,000 participants in live and online competitions across Europe have been battling since March to claim the 100 spots available for the finale. The winning players received a €900 prize package including travel expenses to Barcelona and a chance to represent their country at the championship event.
The top 18 players will share in a €50,000 prize pool, but only one will earn the amateur champion title.
Everest Poker organized the EPEC in cooperation with local poker federations, casinos, and poker rooms throughout Europe. It is the first poker competition for amateur players that runs throughout the region.
