Everest Poker seems to be on the verge of a European takeover with all of its special tournaments for the European Poker Tour and other events. Now they're also moving into the TV world in France with the sponsorship of "Direct Poker" on the Direct 8 digital channel.
Everest Poker teamed with Direct 8 to launch the new show in France. "Direct Poker" will be a live, one-hour televised speed poker game during which 100 contestants will vie for a share of a €25,000 prize pool.
To sweeten the pot even more, the first place winner will also get a seat at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, which is worth $10,000.
To get onto the show, poker players must register at Everest Poker or the Direct 8 Web site, and then qualify on one of the poker room's free multi-table tournaments. The tournaments are set up exclusively for the show.
Only French players living in France are eligible to participate in the show.
"Direct Poker" will begin airing Jan. 26 on Direct 8 and run to July 2007.
