Everest Poker brings back Avalanche for 2008
The Everest Poker Avalanche is back and offering even more players a shot at the $1 million prize pool.
"We listened to our player feedback, and created an even better tournament for 2008," said Everest Poker on its site. "The guarantee will still be $1,000,000, but with an improved qualification structure, we'll give a better chance for more players to qualify."
During its first go-round, the Avalanche offered monthly qualifier satellites to the $1 million main event. This time, there will be weekly qualifiers, giving players even more chances to get into the final.
The weekly satellites have a $500+$30 buy-in and will get players directly into the May 10 Avalanche Online Final, which otherwise has a $3,000+$150 buy-in.
Everest Poker players can get into the Avalanche for much less out of their own pockets as well. For $11+$1, players can participate in daily satellites at 12:15 a.m., 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. that will get them into the $100+$9 daily satellite into the weekly qualifier.
Another route is through the daily $3+30¢ re-buy satellites at 3:45 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. that also get players into the $100+$9 daily satellite for the weekly qualifiers.
According to Everest Poker, the qualifying structure is the only thing that's changed for the new Avalanche run. Like last year, the online finale, taking place May 10 at 3 p.m., will once again play down to the final 10. Those players plus one guest each will then be flown to play the final table live.
"A free vacation weekend plus a share of $1 million - what could be better?" Everest Poker said on the site.
Also like last year, the final-table destination hasn't yet been revealed. Poker players will have to watch Everest Poker and PokerListings.com for when the information is released.
The payout structure for the Avalanche final is as follows:
