EPT to air in Sweden, Canada
By Lianne Elias
U.K. producer-distributor Zeal Television has secured several new agreements for its Sunset+Vine produced European Poker Tour (EPT), which is sponsored by the second largest online poker room in the world, PokerStars.com.
The 17-part series will now also be running on Canada's national 24-hour all-sports network, TSN, as well as on Viasat-owned ZTV in Sweden.
The EPT currently airs on TV Norge in Norway and TV3+ in Denmark, as well as in the U.K. and in 54 other territories on the Eurosport network.
Nick Sallon, Zeal's head of international sales, said of the show, "European Poker Tour's high-end production values, combined with poker's enormous appeal internationally, make it the perfect property for youth-skewed broadcasters targeting 16- to 44-year-olds."
The EPT recently hosted the EPT Copenhagen event, the largest ever poker tournament in Scandinavia, and the EPT Deauville event, which boasted the largest attendance ever for a European poker tournament.
The EPT Grand Final is set take place next month from March 7-11 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
