Tournaments and Freerolls
Tournaments
Empire Poker hosts many tournaments with buy-ins as small as $1 up to several hundred dollars. The biggest volumes, however, are in the small buy-in tournaments. Play at any level is relatively loose, but the big buy-in tournaments offer fierce competition when closing in on the final table. Empire Poker is still one of the biggest sites around when it comes to tournament play and especially No-Limit Hold'em, so if you're a Hold'em player, you're sure to find a tournament you like. Empire Poker runs a great deal of guaranteed tournaments and qualifiers. The most common are the qualifiers to the $200,000 guaranteed tournaments where a player can win the tournament's $215 buy-in for as little as $11. Empire Poker also offers many different qualifiers to big live events all over the world such as the Aussie Millions and the World Series of Poker.
Software and Graphics
The Empire Poker software is developed by PartyGaming and is owned and operated by the Party Poker network. The software is fast, detailed and very reliable and is updated regularly without significant downtime.
Statistics
The data and statistics functions in Empire Poker's software allow you to take notes on your opposition during play, and the lobby supplies vital table statistics such as average pot size and hands played per hour. There is, however, no indication of flop-call percentage. The Empire Poker lobby and software on whole has gone through significant updates the last year and is now very useful and stable with an easy-to-use navigation system. A function in the software saves the hand histories on the player's local hard drive for a preset number of days.
Multi Table
The Empire Poker software supports play at four tables simultaneously; multi-table play runs smoothly and is problem free. Empire Poker's software is well suited to multi-table play because it is fast, reliable and has good audio and graphics functions to alert players. The software supports the option to auto resize all open tables, meaning the site will resize and spread out all tables evenly on the screen with the click of your finger. Resizing does not work for Omaha and Seven-Card Stud games, but the four-table restriction may keep some of the hardcore multi-table players away anyway.
Graphics
The graphics of the Empire Poker software are well matched and informative; tables and numbers show up as red to alert players in the lobby of something important, and white and green colors are used to separate text fields. The software allows the player to choose from a list of appealing avatars. The table functions are easy to learn and well oriented on the table. The play takes place on a classic oblong green felt table with standard table seating. All sound and animations can be turned on or off, as well as the sometimes very annoying congratulations message that plays after you win a hand.
Special Features
The Empire Poker software offers the basic features such as a full four-color deck and basic customization, but nothing out of the ordinary.
