Dragan's Den: Galic dominant in San Remo

Dragan Galic
Dragan Galic is spitting hot fire over the competition in San Remo.

The PokerStars.com EPT San Remo tournament is very quickly turning into the Dragan Galic show.

The Croatian sensation was chipleader after Day 1, chipleader after Day 2 and finished Day 3 once again on the top of the leaderboard.

With 32 players left, Galic's 1.3 million chips amounts to about 11% of the total chips in play.

"I had good cards today," Galic told PokerListings.com. "My biggest pot was with kings and my next-biggest was with aces, for 400k and 300k respectively.

"My secret is I don't lose with kings or aces!"

He doesn't lose with Q T either.

In the hand that sums up Galic's tournament thus far, the former BMW engineer called opponent Larsgreger Larsson's all-in with the aforementioned Q-10 offsuit.

Larsson had jacks and even turned top set, but that wasn't enough to beat the Dragan. Galic hit runner-runner to make a flush and thus bounce his rival from the tournament.

Alex Kravchenko, friend of PokerStars Tom McEvoy and Joao Barbosa.

With his 100th-place finish in San Remo, Barbosa extended his EPT record for single-season cashes. The Portuguese pro has finished in the money an incredible seven times on the fifth EPT season.

By 7 p.m. local time, the field had been reduced to the final 32.

Among those who remain in contention are high-stakes online pro Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro, as well as PokerStars.de Shooting Star Benjamin Kang and LAPT1 San Jose finalist Steven Silverman.

Action will resume at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and continue until the field is reduced to the final eight. You can follow all of the action in the PokerListings Live Tournaments section.
