A pro-heavy field has begun the chase for the next WPT Seminole Hard Rock title with John Dolan and Chino Rheem grabbing spots in the top 10 after Day 1 yesterday.

With a $10k buy-in and a large group of pros who call South Florida home, the turnout in Hollywood was solid in both numbers and talent.

A full 280 players bought in on Day 1 with big-name pros like Michael Mizrachi, Jason Mercier and Matt Waxman leading the way.

It was another South Floridian, however - 2010 November Niner John Dolan - who took advantage of his home court and bagged up 120,200 in chips to sit second overall heading into Day 2.

Another well known November Niner, Chino Rheem, also had a good day at the felt to sit eighth overall with 106,100 in chips – just slightly ahead of ninth-place Kyle Bowker with 104,000.

David Nicholson leads the Day 1 finishers with 132,300.

Little, Frankenberger Lead Chase Pack

Former WPT Players of the Year Andy Frankenberger and Jonathan Little also made good use of their time yesterday and bagged up decent stacks after the first five levels of play.

Little finished his day with 87,975 while Frankenberger grabbed 83,625 to both head for Day 2 just outside of the top 10.

Other notable pros to finish flush with chips were Ashton Griffin (74,775), Waxman (60,825), Matt Marafioti (55,700), Allen Kessler (51,760), Tristan Wade (47,550) and Mercier (47,275).

Big name bustees included Josh Arieh, Kevin Saul, WPT Raw Deal Host Tony Dunst and Premier League V champ James Dempsey.

Registration is still open until Day 2 begins at 12:00 noon ET today so a few more players might be added to the 209 who made it through Day 1.
