Devilfish on at EPT Grand Final; Hellmuth cranky
The Devilfish and the Brat are holding court on Day 1b of the European Poker Tour's Grand Final in Monte Carlo: The former - David "Devilfish" Ulliott - has made it known you shan't "go to war with the fish if you're not playing poker;" the latter - Phil "Poker Brat" Hellmuth - has informed the table his plan of attack is to wait for people to get confused.
So, it's just another average day in the poker world, then.
Except, of course, they're hunkered within the posh confines of the Sporting Casino in one of the world's most glamorous locales.
Officially, it's known as Day 1b of the EPT's Grand Final, and a boggling number of world-class poker pros have touched down to square off.
Among them: Joe Hachem, Bill Chen, Vanessa Rousso, Isabelle Mercier, Bertrand Grospellier, Marcel Luske, Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Erica Schoenberg, David Benyamine, Jonathan Little, Mel Judah, John Gale, Andy Black and Gus Hansen.
The "Devilfish" and the "Poker Brat," of course, are also present and running strong, and letting everyone in their proximity know about it.
Surprisingly to the rail already, however: Luske, Ivey, Rousso and Hachem, with more certainly to come as the blinds creep higher and play winds towards the midnight hour in Europe.
And PokerListings.com's Owen Laukkanen - sockless, and fittingly attired in a turquoise linen suit and wicker sandals - has careened his way down the Mediterranean coast in a roofless Le Car, feathering his hair the old fashioned way, to bring you the action.
His up-to-the-minute hand recaps, photos and ingenious insight and analysis are streaming away as we speak over in the Live Tournaments Section, and will continue to until a champion has been crowned over the weekend.
Things are sure to get heated along the way to the monstrous €1.8 million grand prize, and you shan't want to miss any of it.
