The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure broke all attendance records for the eighth consecutive year on Sunday.

A total of 913 players crammed into the Atlantis ballroom on Sunday creating an overall field of 1,560. It marks an increase of 31 players compared to last year. The event has grown in every year of its existence.

Among the players to get in on the action were new Team PokerStars Pro Viktor "Isildur1" Blom as well vets Chris Moneymaker, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Barry Greenstein, Victor Ramdin, Joe Hachem and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

Also in the field were Bryn Kenney, Vivek Rajkumar, Jennifer Tilly, Praz Bansi, Sorel Mizzi and Antonio Esfandiari.

The prizepool was also released on Day 1b and players will be gunning for $15.1 million with the top 232 players getting paid. The first place finisher will walk away with $2.3 million.

PokerStars flattened the prize pool of the PCA in recent years, which is why online poker player Poorya Nazari’s $3 million victory in 2009 still stands as the biggest prize in the tournament’s history.

By the end of play, 373 players remained with Chris Moneymaker, Daniel Alaei, Dwyte Pilgrim and Viktor Blom among the chip leaders.

Tomorrow all 645 from Day 1a and Day 1b will be combined for the first time as action resumes at 12:00 p.m.

The 2011 PCA continues through Jan. 15 and PokerListings will be on the scene with live updates, news, photos and videos.
