Daily 3-Bet: Timex Plunge, Live Nosebleeds, Come to Malta

Mike McDonald has come a long way.

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a dizzying, time-slows-down rope swing ride in the quintessentially quaint Swiss poker news countryside.

Today in the 3-Bet we bring you Mike “Timex” McDonald trusting his life to 80 meters of rope in Switzerland, talk of a $1 million buy-in cash game at the EPT Grand Final plus a brand new promo video for the second-annual PokerListings Battle of Malta.

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet can be left in the comments below.

1) Timex Has Most Fun Since Losing Virginity

When Mike “Timex” McDonald hit the live poker scene with his $1.3 million EPT win he was a gangly 18-year-old.

Now, five years and more than $3 million in extra tournament earnings later, Timex is giving Patrik Antonius a run for his money as “most likely to give up poker for a career in male modeling”.

So what's a typical day for someone with youth, money and freedom?

Well, today it was flying through the air at 120 km/h attached to an 80m rope in the Interlaken canyons of Switzerland. Naturally.

2) $1 Million Buy-In Cash Game Rumors at EPT Grand Final

There's a common saying in Monte Carlo: If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it.

And we know from experience. We once spent the night in the club underneath the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel drinking €60 double Bacardi and Cokes.

Philipp Gruissem looks ready to us.

So it's only fitting that we've been hearing talk of a $1 million buy-in cash game at the upcoming EPT Grand Final.

PokerStars Blog has reported that although the game isn't set in stone, a number of players have said they'll play, and they've even started hashing out times and structures.

So far Sam Trickett, Paul Newey, Philipp Gruissem, Isaac Haxton and Niklas Heinecker have all said they're ready.

The proposed stakes? €1,000/€2,000 blinds with an optional straddle.

Keep an eye out for it Saturday May 11.

3) Second Battle of Malta Set to be Bigger, Better

Last year PokerListings hosted its first ever live poker tournament, the Battle of Malta, and it went so well we've decided to do it again this year, only bigger and better.

Kara Scott will return to host and play, and we've upped the guarantee to €200,000. It's playing out at the end of September and we'll be giving players a ton of ways to qualify for little to no money.

Keep an eye on the Battle of Malta page for breaking news and watch the video below to get a feel for what the event's all about.
