Daily 3-Bet: Hellmuth Dojo, Bay 101 Bricks, Poker v. Crashed Ice

Phil Hellmuth
Tao of Hellmuth: Tea or toe-to-toe.

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a mountaintop hut, some split-toe slippers and an enlightening tete-a-tete over afternoon poker news tea.

Have something you want to see in a future 3-Bet? Drop us a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Hellmuth holding court in a mountaintop dojo, WPT Bay 101 breaks out the big bricks and Joni Joukimainen takes his poker skills to the ice.

1) Hellmuth: Step into My Dojo

Sometimes it's hard to tell if Phil Hellmuth is just trolling the world sometimes:

One thing he's not trolling about? His Carl's Jr commercial, which he was recently criticized for by poker pro Mukul Pahuja:

Gotta side with Hellmuth on that one tbh. Good burger; good exposure for poker. Still jonijouhkimainen

Not afraid of big bets or high speeds.

" target="_blank">should have taken a real bite in that commercial, though.

2) Bay 101 Prize Pool Hits $5m, $1.2m for FIrst

They've just started Day 2 of play at WPT Bay 101 and with registration now closed the official prize pool is set.

Carroll: Back for more bricks in 2015.

Grand total: 708 entries for over $5m. First-place: $1.2 million.

That's some major cheddar.

Just over 190 players are left with 72 set to make the money. Play will go down to 36 today.

Big names making noise: Brian Rast, John Hennigan, Ari Engel, reigning champ James Carroll, Faraz Jaka, Carlos Mortensen, Mike Leah and Anthony Zinno.

Yep, WPT Live Updates here.

3) Joni Jouhkimainen Hits Red Bull Crashed Ice

Not afraid of big bets or high speeds.

Think clicking buttons and shoving chips around at the highest-stakes in poker is hard?

Try skating down a steep, narrow, iced track at about 50mph with three other skaters elbowing you for position.

If you've ever seen the Red Bull Crashed Ice Skater-Cross you know what a crazy mess it can be but that's apparently not enough to steer Finnish poker pro Joni Jouhkimainen away.

The esteemed young pro with over $2m in career live tournament earnings happens to have an older brother - Miikka - who's one of the best Skater-Cross racers in the world.

Joni the younger also decided to give it a go at the recent Red Bull Crashed Ice Stop in Helsinki. As a rookie he didn't do too bad, qualifying for the second race but crashing out in the first round (officially he finished 70th overall).

It was enough to earn him a wildcard spot in the upcoming stop in Edmonton this week, though, which he will attend.

Poker rooms of Edmonton, you've been forewarned. Check the clip of Red Bull Crashed Ice Helsinki below:
