Daily 3-Bet: Stacked Seminole Finale, Busquet Fight Blog, 4/20 Poker
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a zesty tomato sauce, a ball of fresh mozzarella and a bundle of basil that pairs perfectly with the salty mid-afternoon poker news pizza crust.
You can always make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll look at the epic final table for the WPT $10k at Seminole, an introspective blog from Olivier Busquet about MMA and a momentous moment for 4/20 poker.
1) WPT SHR Poker Finale Final 6
The final table for the 2016 WPT $10k Hard Rock Finale is set and it’s a doozy.
The tournament is on break until tomorrow but for right now this is the official 6-person final table:
Seat 1. Chino Rheem – 3,430,000 (86 bb)
Seat 2. Bryan Piccioli – 535,000 (13 bb)
Seat 3. Richard Leger – 4,010,000 (100 bb)
Seat 4. Adrian Mateos – 850,000 (21 bb)
Seat 5. William Benson – 2,230,000 (56 bb)
Seat 6. Aditya Prasetyo – 2,620,000 (66 bb)
Incredibly Chino Rheem would lock up his third WPT title if he’s successful tomorrow. Only three other players in history have achieved that feat.
Spain’s Adrian Mateos could complete a triple crown with WSOP, EPT and WPT titles if he wins tomorrow.
Meanwhile the $3k SHRPO final table is nearly set with Justin Young holding the lead. You can follow along via the WPT live updates.
2) Busquet: MMA Fight is About Self-Discovery
So that upcoming Olivier Busquet vs. JC Alvarado MMA match has the poker world buzzing with Jason Mercier, Dan Colman and others reportedly wagering huge sums on the outcome.
There have been numerous MMA fights featuring poker pros over the years including Lex Veldhuis vs. Bertrand Grospellier and Brian Rast vs. Sorel Mizzi but this one appears to be the real deal with both Busquet and Alvarado doing some incredibly extensive training.
The very articulate Busquet published a blog yesterday today that talks about why he decided to do the fight in the first place.
It’s a fascinating read and you may be surprised to learn that it wasn’t because of any animosity with Alvarado or even just the money that was at stake:
“…For me, though, this project was and has been about much more than just a fight. This has been a journey of self discovery, identity, testing my limits and developing my character.”
The fight takes place this Thursday at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas at 6 p.m. $20 gets you in the door with all proceeds going to One Drop. A livestream is here.
Please don't kill each other, guys.
3) Online Poker’s Reefer Madness
Happy 4/20 poker players/stoners!
There is of course only one way to celebrate the momentous occasion and that’s by watching this very old-school video of high-stakes pro Jay Rosenkrantz winning nearly $100k while under the influence of… something.
It was a simpler time. Now go wake up Emil!
