Daily 3-Bet: SirWatts SCOOP X2, GPI Prime Time, Stuey vs. Doyle
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a place that exists somewhere in time and space where the mid-afternoon news is always fresh and entertaining.
You can make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Mike Watson crushing SCOOP, GPI hitting prime time and a WSOP throwback featuring Doyle Brunson and Stu Ungar.
1) SirWatts Wins Second SCOOP
It’s already been one hell of a Spring Championship of Online Poker and the hits just keep coming.
Mike “SirWatts” Watson recorded his second SCOOP win in two weeks yesterday in the $2,100 PL Omaha Hi-Lo event.
Watson took home $65,320 for outlasting 142 entries in the contest.
In a surprisingly turn of events Watson had to beat not one but two famous Japanese PokerStars pros at the final table.
Naoya “nkeyno” Kihara finished runner-up for $45k while teammate Kosei Ichinose busted in fourth place for $25,560.
Meanwhile Jason Mercier continued his red-hot 2015 SCOOP by going deep in ALL three 8-game events yesterday eventually finishing third in the medium event for $11k, 57th in the low event and stone bubbled the cash in the high edition.
2) GPI Streaming Channel Goes Live for SCOOP
Speaking of SCOOP, the Global Poker Index Studio in Malta launched its first Twitch.tv live stream of the prominent online series earlier today.
GPI head honcho Alexandre Dreyfus posted a blog calling it a major step forward for the brand.
Over the next three days Laura Corelius, Neil Channing and many others will provide live coverage of SCOOP
Dreyfus is calling the stream a “beta test” for the new studio and we can’t think of a better way to follow SCOOP closely over the weekend.

WSOP Throwback: Brunson vs. Ungar
There’s no doubt that Stu Ungar was one of the best card players to ever sit down at a poker table but he sure could be prickly.
This short clip from One of a Kind: The Stu Ungar story showcases the great Stu Ungar vs. Doyle Brunson heads-up battle in the 1980 WSOP Main Event (2015 WSOP starts next week, btw!).
You’d think that facing down the legendary Texas Dolly would make Ungar slightly nervous.
Instead Ungar was the aggressor and needled Brunson throughout the whole match. He kept telling the Brunson he was going to take all his chips and eventually that’s what he did.
Ungar won $365,000 and definitely got the attention of Brunson as the two would continue to spar over the years.
