Daily 3-Bet: Return of the EPT, Filatov = Fun, Four-Card Brouhaha
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is an Audi R8, a pair of leather gloves and nothing but clear road on the afternoon poker news autobahn.
Have something you'd like to see featured in a future 3-Bet? Let us know in the comments.
Today in the 3-Bet we find the EPT Grand Final rev up in Monaco, Anatoly Filatov lights up the GPL and the Celebrity Cash Kings dig into some four-card pandemonium.
1) Grand Final Underway!
After a two-month hiatus after EPT Dublin in February the European Poker Tour is back to business with the start of the 2016 Grand Final.
The 11-day, 80-event blowout got underway today with a brand new event on the schedule, the €10K Single Re-Entry High Roller.
As you might expect the list of top-tier poker pros in the mix is spectacular and includes Jason Mercier, Ole Schemion, Dominik Nitsche, Adrian Mateos, Charlie Carrel and more.
With almost 100 players in their seats already the final prize pool numbers should be impressive and a sign of things to come for the rest of the festival.
The cards-up live stream doesn't begin until the end of the week but you can follow the live updates from the PokerStars blog from the €10K right here.
2) Anatoly Filatov = Good Times on GPL
We're into Week 4 of the inaugural season on the Global Poker League and at this point we've seen a pretty good portion of the league's 72 players get in the action. There are a few faces the world has yet to meet, though, and we'll get to know a few of them this week.
Las Vegas Moneymakers Scott Ball and Chris Moneymaker, the Berlin Bears' Jeff Gross, Rome Emperor Todd Brunson, London Royal Vanessa Selbst, Hong Kong Star Celina Lin and Montreal National Jason Lavallee all make their debuts.
Also having his GPL coming out party? A guy we're quite well acquainted with, but most of the poker world might not be, in Moscow Wolverine Anatoly Filatov.
Our 2015 Most Inspiring Player award winner we know just how entertaining Filatov can be and he's proved it tenfold this afternoon with his performance in the EurAsia six-max matches.
Personable, engaging and playing aggressively Filatov burst out of the blocks with an impressive 12 points from two matches. More importantly, though, he showed he's got personality in spades, which at this stage of the GPL's history is even more important than points.
Watch the replay of his performance below and tune in tomorrow for his heads-up battle with Selbst, which should be fantastic.
3) Celebrity Cash Kings Add Some Cards
The action was pretty great and the pots were big, but it's when they get down to the Pot-Limit Omaha where things really get wild. Check today's stream below:
