Daily 3-Bet: Return of Jungle, LA Confidential, Poker in Nagaland
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a rickety bus, a pair of beaded legwarmers and just enough fiber optic cable to connect to the afternoon poker news grid.
Have a tip for a future edition of the 3-Bet? Tell us about it in the comments.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Dan "Jungleman" Cates back on the GPL battlefield, still no word on two GPL Wildcards and some more baby steps in global online poker legislation.
1) Jungle vs. ElkY
After an occasionally glitchy but massively fun Day 1 of the Global Poker League yesterday, they're right back in the action today with three new heads-up matches.
Randy "nanonoko" Lew just showed why we should believe the Nanonhype as ran like a boss and crushed Moscow Wolverine Sergey Lebedev 3-0 in their match to earn 9 points for the Hong Kong Stars.
The match everyone is waiting for, however, is up next with Dan "Jungleman" Cates - one of the best heads-up players in the world - against Twitch/eSports celeb Bertrand "ElkY' Grospellier.
It's even more notable given how things went for Jungleman in yesterday's six-max matches.
ICYMI, he pulled off the double bagel - earning 0 points for the Berlin Bears and suffered an embarrassing misclick to make matters worse.
If he sweeps all three rounds today he'll be well on the way to redemption with 9 big points for the Bears.
They've added webcams into the mix today to go along with the fast and furious (and funny) commentary from Griffin Benger and Sam Grafton.

2) LA Wildcards Still Under Wraps
According to GPL CEO Alex Dreyfus, a bunch of new features we've yet to see will be rolled out as the first-ever Global Poker League season progresses.
The first big mystery we're waiting on, though?
Just which two players Maria Ho will add to the LA Sunset. So far 11 of the 12 Managers have named their two picks but Ho has yet to name hers.
Is there a big celeb (Jen Tilly?) trying to figure out how to clear her schedule? Is Maria one of the picks herself? Can we expect the return of Amazing Race running mate Tiffany Michelle?
We're kind of anxious to find out.
So too, are the GPL announcers, as they've just said on the stream we'll have to wait a few more days to hear as she's still "in negotiations" with a player and/or players.
3) Online Poker Making Progress in India
Nagaland is a mountainous state in the northeast corner of India, bordering Myanmar.
It's "home to diverse indigenous tribes, with festivals and markets celebrating the different tribes' culture."
Its population is about 2.5 million and its capital city is Kohima. It has also now, according to GLaws.in, officially approved a bill to authorize "Online Games of Skill" including poker:
"The recommendation of the Committee stated that it has thoroughly examined the Bill and deliberated on its social and legal implications and it is satisfied with the legalities and the revenue that would be generated.
"Accordingly, the Committee unanimously recommended that the said Bill be passed. The report of the Committee was considered an adopted on March 8, 2016."
The Bill just needs approval from the Governor, after which rules and licensing policies will be outlined. They expect it to be in place in a couple of months and the hope is it'll inspire a few more states to come on board.
