In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at CBS green-lighting Poker Night in America for two more seasons, Phil Ivey losing $800k and maybe the toughest Shark Cage yet.
1) CBS Renews Poker Night in America for Two More Seasons
It’s a good day for poker on TV as CBS has opted to renew Poker Night in America for two more seasons.
Poker Night President Todd Anderson announced the news in a blog earlier this week.
Anderson also mentioned that the show will be moved to a more stable Monday night time slot at 10 p.m. EST.
Title sponsor 888poker will also be returning for two more seasons.
“We couldn’t have done it without our friends at 888poker,” said Anderson.
Poker Night in America has already aired 29 episodes for Season 1 and 26 more episodes will be coming shortly for Season 2.
Season 2 of Poker Night in America is set to start airing January 5 although we’ve already seen some quality streaming from the recent Ladies Night event at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
2) Phil Ivey Drops $800k in Seven Days
It’s been a rough year for Phil Ivey, what with losing the £7.7 million Crockford’s case and Ivey Poker going on hiatus, and this week hasn’t really helped matters.
Ivey posted a dreadful -$800k over the last seven days on Full Tilt, according to highstakesdb.com and is creeping his way to -$3 million 2014.
There have been some positive swings for Ivey as well this year but every time he appears to be gaining some momentum in the right direction he crashes back down to earth.
Prior to Black Friday, Ivey was the biggest all-time winner in online poker with nearly $20 million in profit.
Since switching to the “Polarizing” screen name Ivey is down $5.3 million.
On the bright side Ivey picked up $4 million (AUD) in the A$250,000 buy-in Super High Roller at the 2014 Aussie Millions.
It’s nearly time for the 2015 Aussie Millions with the tournament set to run Jan 14-Feb. 2, 2015. Time for another Ivey score?
3) Crazy Russian, Bunch of Sharks Star in Latest Shark Cage Episode
PokerStars released Episode 8 of the Shark Cage this week and it’s one hell of a great way to finish the qualifying round.
It’s perhaps the most pro-heavy episode yet with Ole Schemion, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Vanessa Selbst, Tony G and Artem “The Crazy Russian” Litvinov all trying to one-up each other.
You kind of have to feel for qualifier David Harrison who really was getting thrown into a shark cage.
