The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is an oddly charming Santa with an ill-fitting suit that delivers mid-afternoon poker news gold.

You can always throw future 3-Bet suggestions in the comments section below.

In today’s 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Michael Phelps receiving his sentence for DUI, the EPT schedule and Joe Stapleton getting his Santa on.

1) Judge Reaches Verdict in Michael Phelps’ DUI Case

Olympian and poker player Michael Phelps pleaded guilty on Friday to driving under the influence and received 18 months of probation and a one-year suspended sentence.

Phelps was arrested in Baltimore in September when he was clocked doing 84 miles per hour in a 45-mile zone. His blood alcohol was .14, which is twice the legal limit in Baltimore.

Of course Phelps was banned from competitive swimming for six months after news of his DUI broke. In the meantime he continues to train for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

They didn’t say anything, however, about playing poker, although considering the environment it may be awhile before Phelps goes to a casino.

2) EPT Malta to Feature 67 Events

The European Poker Tour is headed to Malta this spring and it’s bringing an enormous 67-event schedule from March 18-28.

We've been praising Malta for years!

The entire festival will take place at the Portomaso Casino (hey that’s where Battle of Malta is!) with the €5,300 Main Event set to run March 22-28.

Interestingly EPT Malta will include not only a Senior’s Event (for ages 50+) on March 22 but a Junior’s event (for ages 21 and lower) on the same day.

It's the first we've ever heard of a poker tournament only for 21 and under.

Check the EPT page for complete schedule.

Here are some of the other highlights from the schedule:

  • €25,500 High Roller on March 20
  • €110 Flipout 36-Player Cap on March 21
  • €3,200 PLO on March 25
  • €10,300 High Roller on March 27
  • €330 “Turbo” Main Event on March 28

3) Joe Stapleton Plays Santa at EPT Prague

It’s time for another Stapes Challenge where EPT commentator Joe Stapleton does pretty much whatever viewers want.

This time they voted to have Stapes don a Santa suit and listen to what poker players want for Christmas at EPT Prague.

There are some incredible moments in the video with Jason Mercier, Sara Chafak and partner James Hartigan among the highlights. Check it out below:
