The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a perfectly-timed political coup primed to upset the balance of the mid-afternoon poker news world.
If you have a suggestion for a future 3-Bet piece feel free to leave us a note in the comments section.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Mikal Blomlie grabbing the OFC world championship, a hilarious Ben Sulsky prop bet and a House of Cards poker parody starring Johnny Lodden.
1) Mikal Blomlie Crowned OFC World Champion
It might not have quite the panache of the WSOP Main Event but Mikal Blomlie won the first ever Open-Face Chinese Poker World Championship in Prague earlier today.
Blomlie outlasted 102 players in the €1,000 buy-in main event to win €35,000 and a pretty sweet championship belt.
The Norwegian has over $340,000 in lifetime live tournament earnings but also has an astounding three WCOOP titles.
Blomlie edged Jan Hendrick Tapken who took home €21,000 for coming in second place.
The OFC series was organized by TonyBet, which you can actually play OFC on, and earlier in the series chess grandmaster Jen Shahade won the high roller OFC event for an even bigger score of €100,000.
The only question is where OFC degens Shaun Deeb and Jason Mercier were on this occasion. Oh… right.
2) Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky Wins Ridiculous Basketball Bet
We don’t know how we missed this crazy Bet “Sauce123” Sulsky prop bet but it’s glorious.
Apparently Sulsky agreed to a basketball challenge against Assani Fisher where Fisher had to wear an oven mitt on his left hand.
Assani provided a few more details on TwoPlusTwo:
Sulsky is relatively inexperienced playing basketball but has been playing weekly leading up to the challenge.
Assani played college basketball but didn’t practice at all wearing an oven mitt.
Word is that Sulsky won the challenge, which seems very likely after watching the following video of the bet:
3) Johnny Lodden Stars in House of Cards Poker Parody
Hit Netflix show House of Cards is coming back this spring but before it does you might want to check out this rather good poker parody of the show by comedy group Humornieu.
Actor Hasse Hope plays Frank Underwood in the short video while Johnny Lodden plays his nemesis at the poker table.
There are some brilliant moments in the video like Hasse Hope is giving a Frank Underwood-esque aside to the viewer except the dealer calls time on him.
Pretty great ending too.
