The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a penalty shot specialist that always shoots the ball right down the middle of the mid-afternoon poker news world.

You can make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.

In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at the rise of poker in MLS soccer, your chance to beat/back Team PokerStars Online and a sick $626k cooler on Poker Central.

1) MLS Plays Poker

Professional athletes tend to like poker.

Seb Giovinco
He's magic on the field and at the tables apparently.

We’ve written countless stories over the years about players from the NBA, NHL and NFL that enjoy a twirl at the tables.

You can now add Major League Soccer to that list.

Striker Jozy Altidore relayed to ExtraTime radio that numerous players on Toronto FC love to play the game including Michael Bradley and reigning MLS MVP Seb Giovinco.

In fact Giovinco won the last tournament the Toronto FC guys held.

“It was rigged!” joked Altidore to ExtraTime. “[Giovinco] is a good player though.”

We’d say it’s about time to schedule a Sit & Go with PokerStars pros Neymar Jr. and Cristiano Ronaldo for poker-playing supremacy.

2) Take on PokerStars Team Pro Online

Randy Lew
Good luck beating Nanonoko.

PokerStars is running a very cool promo this week (Feb. 29-March 6) where customers can either beat PokerStars Team Online pros or back them in the Heads-Up Challenge to win an EPT Grand Final Package.

Both methods involve playing the special Heads-Up Challenge Qualifier on March 1 at 14:00 ET, which has a buy-in of $11.

The goal is to snag a seat in the massive Heads-Up Challenge on March 5, which includes a combination of PokerStars Online pros and qualifiers.

The qualifier who finishes the highest will receive a $5,000 bonus. If the qualifier outlasts all the pros they’ll receive a $10k EPT Grand Final Package.

Meanwhile if you don’t qualify for the Heads-Up Challenge you’ll still receive a “backing ticket”, which you can use to play one of the 32 freeroll tournaments, named after each of the participants in the HU Challenge.

If you choose the right freeroll tournament then you’ll get to play for $5,000 and two EPT Grand Final packages.

3) $626k Cooler on Aria SHRS Cash Game

We’ve been loving the Super High Roller Series Cash Game on Poker Central so it’s slightly bittersweet the season finale will air tomorrow.

On the bright side Poker Central dropped this clip from the finale on YouTube and it’s a monster $626,000 cooler of a hand between businessmen Brandon Steven and Bill Perkins.
