Daily 3-Bet: Karr Skids, Selbst Rages, Negreanu Bolts

Daniel Negreanu

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a fat-rich buffet of cured meats and blood sausage in the gluten-free, non-dairy afternoon poker news market.

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find McLean Karr dropping dramatically in the GPI (for good reason), Vanessa Selbst unhappy with an LA dealer and Daniel Negreanu bolting Europe and threatening to skip the WSOPE over food issues.

1) Karr Plummets, Timex Rises in Latest Global Poker Index

Karr: Not sweating the GPI prob.

The latest edition of the Global Poker Index Top 300 is out and, as usual, Jason Mercier sits on top of the pile.

He has struggled a bit lately (meaning no six-figure scores in a couple months), but he’s still hit enough to hold off Bertand “ElkY” Grospellier by sixty points.

EPT Barcelona €50k High Roller champ Dan Smith and back-to-back WPT winner Marvin Rettenmaier held down third and fourth, respectively, while Stephen O’Dwyer and Vanessa Selbst did likewise for fifth and sixth.

Mike ‘Timex” McDonald rose two spots to seventh – his highest-ever ranking – and poker legend Erik Seidel jumped back into the top 10 in eighth.

EasyGame interviewee Matt “ADZ124” Marafioti held steady in 11th overall.

The biggest drop this week in the top 100 belonged to McLean Karr, who plummeted 30 places to 96th overall.

By the looks of it, Karr has been too busy watching the Olympics and travelling Europe with his super-hot girlfriend Tatjana Pasalic to play many tournaments.

So, yeah. Karr will be fine.

2) Selbst Snaps Over Dealer Disregard at Bicycle Casino

The upcoming WPT Legends of Poker main event may be short one of the aforementioned GPI’s top 10 players if they’re not careful.

Playing in a $1k prelim yesterday (and stacked with a lot of chips even), Vanessa Selbst was a little taken aback by the standard of service from some floor staff at the Bicycle Casino.

As many of the members of “Team Kill Poker” are wont to do, she took to Twitter to voice her displeasure:

If things don't turn around, Selbst says, she might head for Oklahoma to join David Sands and Mario Ho for the $2.5m WinStar World main event instead.

The $3,500 Re-Entry WPT Legands of Poker main event is scheduled to start tomorrow, Aug. 24. Check for live updates here and for daily recaps in our WPT news section.

3) Negreanu Bolts EPT Barcelona, May Skip WSOPE

Another member of Team Kill Poker, another Twitter rant.

This time it's from renowned ranter and poker kingpin Daniel Negreanu, who is again frustrated by a lack of vegan options in cured-meat-heavy Europe.

Skipping the 10k High Roller as a result, the frustration – and the continued presence of the WSOPE in Cannes rather than London - has him actually reconsidering playing in Europe again this year:

Note to all poker vegans when travelling to Europe: Pay for extra bag; fill with kale chips.

At least one online poker heavyweight thinks Daniel is finally seeing the light about one thing:
