In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at an extraordinary story about an enterprising card counter, a new look for Gus Hansen and the great Czech poker hope Vojtech Ruzicka.
1) Miss Brown Beats Vegas
The house always wins. Except when it doesn’t.
Whenever someone manages to beat the casino it makes for a compelling read and Michael Kaplan’s recent Thrillist piece about an anonymous woman named “Miss Brown” is a doozy.
It’s got everything you want from such a tale including the obligatory beating Blackjack for hundreds of thousands of dollars, getting shit-canned by casino security, going busto, DEA agents and jail.
Heck, Miss Brown was even part of a team called the Las Vegas Hole-Card Mafia.
There’s even a little something for poker players as Miss Brown frequented Aria’s Ivey Room for a period of time:
The stakes, $200/$400, no limit, were huge; players would win or lose six figures in a night. I found people to take half of my action and went on a terrible losing streak. Over the course of a year I dropped $500,000. Half of that was my own money and the other half belonged to people who were backing me. I played well but I ran bad. Financially, I was in way over my head. I was not properly rolled for a game so big.
Do yourself a favor and head over to Thrillist to read the entire article.
2) Gus Hansen Brandishes New Look at Aria
We just can’t quit you, Gus Hansen.
The Great Dane was sadly absent from the WSOP this year but he’s finally made it out to Vegas for the booming cash games post-WSOP.
Hansen took a seat next to Daniel Negreanu at Aria and Kid Poker snapped a shot of Hansen’s new look.
Some porn star from the 70's just sat down in the big game at Bellagio. Never seen him before. Anyone? pic.twitter.com/rUPHLd7oDb— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) August 6, 2016
Negreanu thinks he’s got a 70s pornstar vibe going on. We’re thinking he could be the first Danish Mariachi musician. What say you?
3) Vojtech Ruzicka Hopes to Stop Looming Czech Poker Ban
There are a lot of great stories in the 2016 November Nine but only one of them could potentially save online poker in an entire country.
We’re talking of course about Voljtech Ruzicka who is hoping the fame he receives from making the N9 could help stave off the looming poker ban in the Czech Republic.
