Daily 3-Bet: Hellmuth Magic, APAC History, Lewis Ripped

Phil Hellmuth
You can't put a number on reading ability.

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a whiff of black magic in the air despite a stiff, afternoon poker news white-magic wind.

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Hellmuth and others slamming the door on the age-old question about his "real" poker talent, the full final-table replay of Bryan Piccioli's history-making WSOP APAC win and Toby Lewis getting ripped by Tony G. for "cheating" on the Party Poker Big Game VII.

1) Long Live the Poker Brat

For a guy with 13 WSOP bracelets and basically one of the most impressive poker careers of all-time, Phil Hellmuth sure has to spend a lot of energy defending his actual ability to play poker.

He eschews standard, math-driven short-stack play. He's not always the best of sports at the table. But his results clearly speak for themselves - no matter what his legions of haters say. Right?

What's a poker icon have to do to earn a bit of respect once-and-for-all? We caught up with Phil (and others) at WSOP APAC yesterday to help put the issue to rest:

3) Tony G. Calls Toby Lewis a Cheat, Looks Foolish

Tony G being Tony G.

Fans of the Party Poker Big Game - a 12-hour televised cash-game featuring a rotating mix of US and Euro players - know it always makes for some interesting poker. Especially if Tony G. is involved.

Running at the Casino Barcelona alongside the ongoing WPT Barca, they're about 8 hours deep in the game right now with the G. doing a lot of what he does best - getting under people's skin.

He started the day off in spectacular fashion berating UK pro Toby Lewis when Lewis failed to post an agreed-upon straddle. Guoga called Lewis a "cheat" and questioned if the IveyPoker patch Lewis was wearing was "another scam."

Needless to say, it was a bit much. Lewis defended himself well but still called off his stack shortly after and left the game for good.

Current lineup features G., Faraz Jaka, Adria Balaguer, Alec Torelli, Sergio Aido, Niklas Astedt, Jonathan Concepcion and Juha Helppi. Also expected to make an appearance is Dan "Jungleman12" Cates, although to this point all he's done is give a high-priced massage.

Watch the live stream with commentary from Jesse May, Simon Deadman and Kara Scott.
