Daily 3-Bet: Hellmuth HQ, Ladies Night 2, 10 Years of Poker Gems
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a clink of the glasses, a nod across the table and a bottoms-up to beautiful afternoon poker news memory.
Have something you'd like featured in a future 3-Bet? Drop us a note in the comments.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Hellmuth making a surprising turn at CollisionHQ, look forward to another charming Ladies Poker Night and make a toast to 10 years of great poker reporting.
1) Hellmuth Secret Tech King?
Hard to know quite what to make of Phil Hellmuth speaking at a major technology conference, but whatever it is should be interesting:
We know he plays in the Silicon Valley's most exclusive, invite-only poker home game, but has he secretly become the Hank Scorpio of a global tech powerhouse we don't know about?
Hellmuth always kind of struck us a guy who might struggle to set up his gmail folders (mostly because we do, too) but who knows what kind of insight he's gleaned from those home games.
Or maybe he's finally going to take a stand for online poker in the United States? If you're in Vegas May 6, it might be worth your while. Info here.
2) Ladies Night 2: Electric Boogaloo
If you're one of those guys who doesn't think there's any value/difference in holding Women-Only poker tournaments, just watch the clip below.
Have you ever heard a male poker player genuinely compliment another male player on how frequently his hair looks good?
After the smashing success of its first Ladies Night stream Poker Night in America has put together another great lineup of female players for Ladies Night 2 this weekend at Sugarhouse Casino in Philadelphia.
Among the invitees this time are Beth Shak, Jen Shahade, Jamie Kerstetter, Ebony Kenney, Natasha Barbour, Jessica Dawley, Sam Abernathy and Christina Lindley.
Call us a bit jealous, but that might be the most laughing we've ever heard at a poker table that wasn't specifically directed at a player people think is terrible.
3) PokerStars Blog Turns 10, Looks Back Fondly
In case you haven't had a chance to check in lately the PokerStars Blog turned 10 this week.
It's been celebrating by having its writers reminisce and revisit some of their favorite stories over the past decade.
From Matt Affleck's lonely walk down the Rio hallway in 2010 to spontaneous street parties in Brazil to the personal highs and lows of the people who travel the world covering the game, it is, in short, filled with some brilliant stuff.
If you love poker and the people/stories that make it what it is, you'll do yourself a disservice if you don't go check some of it out.
Well done, all involved. Your work is very much admired and appreciated.
