Daily 3-Bet: Hachem Limo Pinch, Timex POY Heist, GPL Street Fight
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is an open window, keys in the ignition and the stereo on blast for an impromptu afternoon poker news joyride.
Got a tip for a future 3-Bet? Drop us a line in the comments and let us know.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Joe Hachem's limo taken for a joyride, Mike McDonald pips Steve O'Dwyer for EPT Player of the Year and a GPL heads-up bonanza.
1) Aussie Joyride
Shane Warne and Joe Hachem are two certifiable Australian superstars so naturally they roll pretty lux when attending celeb events in their home country.
The only risk? The fancy limo tasked to carting them around might be a prime target for an opportunistic joyride.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported Warne, Hachem, his brother Tony and some fellow celebs were catching an early dinner before heading to a Breast Cancer charity event when their limo driver informed them their ride had been pinched.
The white superstretch limo was stolen from outside the seafood restaurant when the driver left the car "unattended for a short time." The $200,000 car was found a few hours later ditched in a bog outside the city.
Hachem didn't seem too bothered, carrying on to the Crown Casino after the event and getting about $70k on the table. Warne, however, seemed a bit choked one of his companions set him up for some paparazzi pics later in the evening.
Price of fame, we guess. Read the full piece here.
2) Timex Wins EPT Season 12 Player of the Year
All-around EPT and High Roller crusher Steve O'Dwyer came into the EPT Grand Final neck-and-neck with Mike "Timex" McDonald for the Season 12 Player of the Year award
After a couple of cashes in the €50k Super High Roller and €25,750 High Roller, he had a decent lead and looked all but assured of locking up the title.
Then came the last event, the €10,200 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em Turbo.
Needing a 7th-place finish to overtake O'Dwyer that's exactly what Timex managed to pull off to scoop the POY title right out from under O'Dwyer.
His final margin of victory? Just .96 points! Less than one point!
Not that McDonald didn't deserve it, as he did cash in 18 events this season and won the EPT Malta €25,750 High Roller. Here's the full Top 10 from the Platinum POY category, meaning most points with all buy-ins considered.
