Daily 3-Bet: Full Tilt/PokerStars Merger, GPL Lottery, Spicy Brat

StarsFTP chop

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is the thrilling zip line in the otherwise mundane mid-afternoon poker news playground.

You can always make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.

In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Full Tilt and PokerStars finally combining player pools, the results of the GPL draft lottery and Phil Hellmuth streaming an OFC tournament.

1) Full Tilt, PokerStars Combining?

It’s almost surprising it hasn’t already happened but there’s a rumor floating around that PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker will finally combine player pools.

The Online Poker Report published a story earlier today that said the two online poker sites, which are both owned by Amaya, will merge liquidity this spring.

Apparently they will continue to be marketed separately but will share a player base.

PokerStars is still the online poker king when it comes to traffic but Full Tilt has fallen out of the top 10 in recent years.

The addition of PokerStars players would obviously provide a lot more options for Full Tilt players.

The Rational Gaming Group purchased Full Tilt in 2014 but has since operated it as an independent site.

2) GPL’s Rome Emperors Get First Pick, Kanit #1?

gpl draft lottery

The first-ever Global Poker League draft lottery is complete and Max Pescatori and his Rome Emperors have officially secured the first overall pick.

The timing is rather perfect considering Italian Mustapha Kanit won yet another high roller tournament last week and solidified his spot as one of the hottest poker players right now.

We’d be very surprised if someone other than Kanit was drafted #1 at this point.

Here’s a look at how the rest of the lottery played out (keep in mind it’s reverse order for the next round):

1. Rome Emperors
2. Montreal Nationals
3. New York Rounders
4. San Fransisco Rush
5. LV Moneymakers
6. Sao Paulo Mets
7. London Royals
8. Moscow Wolverines
9. LA Sunset
10. Berlin Bears
11. Paris Aviators
12. Hong Kong Stars

3) Play Phil Hellmuth in Spicy Pineapple on Twitch

Ever wanted to pull one over on the legendary Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth? You’ll get your chance today from the comfort of your own home.

Hellmuth will be playing a special “Spicy Pineapple” tournament where players get access to the exact same cards and have to try and outplay each other.

It should be good and you can watch it, starting at 3 p.m. PT below:
