In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at the fringe life of a poker pro, eSports worlds colliding and that trouble-making Mike “Timex” McDonald fellow.

1) The Secret Life of Poker Pros

If you’re a professional poker player there’s a good chance you live a life that most people would find unusual.

It’s something The Guardian picked up on and published in an ongoing series called The Secret Life written by anonymous professionals in unusual jobs.

This week’s column tackled poker as a profession and it’s a good one. Here’s an excerpt:

Time contracts when you spend most of your time on your own in a small room looking at a computer. I can barely recall anything that happened last week but remember the specifics of hands played several years ago. I am 40 now and any hopes of a life consisting of “normal” things – a mortgage, starting a family, hobbies – have all but gone. Poker has put me out on the fringes of society.

Despite the negative connotation the writer admitted he/she was still fascinated by the game and enjoys playing it as well as the freedom involved with the lifestyle.

2) Poker Pros vs. eSports Heroes

The crossover is real.

Some of the biggest names in eSports and professional poker are going to face off in the upcoming Worlds Collide promotional event sponsored by Poker Central and Amazon.

The event will see six players face off in a poker/Hearthstone Swiss tournament that will be broadcast live on Twitch.tv.

Team Poker Poker Central will include Maria Ho, Scott Ball and Doug Polk and they’ll be playing noted Hearthstone pros Jason “Amaz” Chan, David “Dog” Caero and Esteban “AKAWonder” Serrano.

Worlds Collide will take place next week on May 24th with feature famed Starcraft II commentator Geoff “iNcontroL” Robinson.

No word on the prizes but the team that wins will certainly get bragging rights.

We've been saying it for years but there are simply too many similarities between online poker and eSports to ignore.

3) Educating People on the Dangers of Timex

This find by Stevan “Random_Chu” Chew is on point. Violence, rock and roll and pornography are not exactly the first things we think about EPT Player of the Year Mike "Timex" McDonald.
