In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at PokerStars getting involved in California, an insane Jake Cody hand and the legendary Jack Ury slow roll at the WSOP.

1) PokerStars Heads to California with Negreanu, Somerville for Demonstration

Daniel Negreanu
California Kid Poker?

It’s becoming more and more apparent that California is the next great battleground for legal online poker in the United States.

PokerStars is preparing their troops by sending Daniel Negreanu and Jason Somerville to Sacramento to provide a live demonstration at the Sheraton Grand Hotel on May 21.

The event is being hosted by the PokerStars/Morongo coalition and the demonstration will show people what they can expect from legal online poker in California.

Negreanu and Somerville will both play against players in the audience in a just-for-fun format. Staff will also discuss the latest advances in online poker security.

With a population of nearly 40 million the importance of the Californian market is not lost on either Negreanu or Somerville. As Negreanu put it:

2) Cody Flops the Nuts, So Does Everyone Else

Poker pro Jake Cody was in the midst of his SCOOP grind yesterday when he flopped a straight with T 9.

The only problem? Everybody else did.

The two other players in the hand both had T-9. One had diamonds while the other had clubs. Everyone went all-in.

Now here’s where things get salty for the other two players: Cody hit a fifth spade on the river and scooped the enormous pot.

Check it out .

3) Jack Ury the 96-Year-Old WSOP-playing, Slowrolling Badass

The 2015 WSOP is only a couple weeks away.

One of the greatest aspects of the WSOP is that anyone can play regardless of sex, race or age. It’s the ultimate equalizer.

With that in mind we present a classic video of 96-year-old Jack Ury slow-rolling his opponent at the 2009 WSOP.

Normally slow rolling is deplorable but when a 96-year-old does it and says, “You’re in trouble” it’s hilarious.

Sadly Ury is no longer with us (he passed away in 2010) but there will be plenty of senior citizens chasing the dream this summer. Here’s to you!
