Daily 3-Bet: Divided We Fall, Mizrachi Mania, No-Filter Scotty
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is like a meticulously perfected craft beer with triple the hops of the normal mid-afternoon poker news swill.
You can shoot suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below the article.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Todd Anderson providing a rallying cry for the poker industry, Michael Mizrachi getting yet another sponsor and Scotty Nguyen hitting Instagram.
1) Poker Night Founder Todd Anderson: “Our Industry is Too Small to Be Divided”
Former co-founder of the Heartland Poker Tour and current Poker Night in America President Todd Anderson has been posting incredibly insightful articles about the poker industry to the Poker Night website for awhile now and his latest one might be the most interesting one yet.
In his latest post Anderson talked in length about the recent American Poker Awards, which he attended, and the sudden spirit of collaboration between industry giants.
“The immaturity of the poker industry is something that’s bothered me for a long time. I’ve always subscribed to the philosophy that a rising tide raises all boats but didn’t feel many people in our business tended to agree with me.”
It’s a great point and -- when you think about it -- there have been some pretty contentious long-running rivalries between giants like PokerStars, WSOP and Full Tilt Poker in a relatively niche industry.
- Full Tilt Poker
- Deep Stacks University
- Absolute Poker
- Poker Income
- Lock Poker
- My Poker Squad
- Turlock Poker Room
Now stop for a second and imagine what the current industry would look like if some of entities mentioned above had agreed to work together from the beginning.
At least things finally seem to be going the right direction with Caesars getting behind PokerStars’ efforts to re-enter the US market and provide a unified front.
2) Michael Mizrachi Snags 5,850th Endorsement
Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has always been a fearsome poker player but his true skill might actually be getting sponsorship deals.
Mizrachi’s latest venture is called Blast Longer, which gives players a sophisticated platform for staging last longer bets.
The software is currently in beta testing but you can check it out at www.blastlonger.eu.
For those keeping track at home here is a small collection of the many, many sponsors Mizrachi has had over the years:
3) Scotty Baby Hits Instagram, Baby!
Despite the fact he hasn’t had any huge results over the last couple years Scotty Nguyen remains one of the poker’s most flamboyant figures.
He’s always a fan favorites at the World Series of Poker and probably signs more autographs than anyone.
Well the Prince of Poker recently started an Instagram account and we’re hoping that means we might finally get a glimpse of his pet monkeys Lucky and Jackpot (They Exist!).
In the meantime here’s a few of his first posts, which have obviously been “babied” up in the comments:
