Daily 3-Bet: Deeb in LA, Women at PCA, DQs Down Under

Freddy Deeb proves you don't have to travel far to win big.

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a quick spin through three less-traveled poker "news" stories that are worth a second look.

Suggestions for a future 3-Bet can be dropped in the comments below.

Today we bring you Freddy Deeb bucking the PCA trend with a score state-side, two players who got the boot from the Aussie Millions and a star-studded Ladies Event that will probably be won by someone named Vanessa.

1) Deeb Has All the Chips, Still Short

While the rest of the poker world is either at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, or headed to the Aussie Millions, Freddy Deeb was busy winning a tournament at the Bike Casino in Los Angeles.

Freddy Deeb picks up six figures this week in LA.

Deeb is the latest WSOP Circuit champion, earning himself $171,810, a Circuit ring and a seat in the $1 million WSOPC National Championship this May in Las Vegas.

Deeb adds this WSOPC ring and six-figure score to his two WSOP gold bracelets and more than $7.8 million in lifetime winnings.

Placing second was recent San Diego law school grad Alex Masek. Masek earned $106,185 for his finish but narrowly missed out on what would have been his fifth WSOP Circuit win, which would have tied him for most wins with Mark “Pegasus” Smith.

2) Toughest Ladies Event Ever?

72 women bought into the $1,000 Ladies Event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the player list includes many of the most talented female professionals in the game.

Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, Vanessa Rousso, Ana Marquez, Adrienne “Talonchick’ Rowsome, Ladies Chess Grandmaster Jennifer Shahade and Lauren Kling are all playing, to name just a few.

The first three names in the preceding paragraph have a combined lifetime earnings total of $10.3 million so it’s not surprising they’re doing things to make their time at the table a little more interesting.

Check out Vanessa Rousso’s recent tweet:

Just made a last longer vs @liv_boeree in the @Pokerstars @PCA 1k ladies event...loser must sing winners national anthem over loudspeaker!

Keep an eye on Rousso's Twitter account to find out what happens there.

3) Two Players DQ’d from Aussie Millions Re-Entry Event

The 2012 Aussie Millions started today with a $1,100 re-entry event and even though players are supposed to have the option of taking another shot on a later Day 1 flight should they bust, two players found themselves not only out of the tournament, but banned completely from the Crown Casino.

After an investigation by tournament staff it was discovered that a player had sold his stack to another player that had previously busted.

Both players were disqualified from the tournament and issued a ban from Crown property.
