Daily 3-Bet: Black Tuesday in Oz, Dentale Reloads, Tequila Doug

Doug Polk and Phil Hellmuth
Poker and Tequila go together like Doug Polk and Phil Hellmuth apparently.

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is an ice-cold slab of beer, a Vegemite sandwich and a shrimp on the barbie of the mid-afternoon poker news world.

In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Australia’s version of Black Friday, Mike Dentale looking for more action and the rising prominence of Tequila in poker.

1) Australia’s Black Tuesday

Even though it wasn’t completely surprising, we’re still reeling over the fact online poker in Australia is very likely going away.

Joe Hachem
Say it ain't so!

Earlier this week the Australian senate voted to include online poker in its upcoming online gambling ban. That means that online poker players Down Under will shortly be straight out of luck.

It’s incredibly bad news (and very similar to the archaic UIGEA that was passed in the USA) when other countries seem to be moving towards legalization and regulation.

Australia has always been one of our favorite places to cover tournaments over the years including the venerable Aussie Millions and WSOP Asia-Pacific.

Heck, Joe Hachem is easily the most famous Australian poker player in the world and he got his start playing online poker along with countless others including favorites Jonathan Karamalikis, James Obst and Matthew “Mjw2006” Wakeman.

Just a bad day all around for the game of poker. Here’s hoping there will be an appeal.

2) More Mike Dentale Challengers Wanted

Did you feel like you could beat Mike Dentale after watching that challenge against Cate Hall? It’s your lucky day!

Dentale told Matt Glantz that he’s looking for more challengers and this time he wants to play for $25k a match.

Something tells us HU masters like Doug Polk, Isaac Haxton, Olivier Busquet or Dan Cates would be happy to oblige.

Oh, who are we kidding, this GIF by Jared Hamby is probably the most accurate way of illustrating the potential challengers.

The HU fever is catching on with everyone apparently and even Joe Ingram and Daniel Negreanu were talking about a PLO challenge earlier today.

The more, the better, we say!

3) Hellmuth, Polk Star in Tequila Ad

Is Tequila the new drink of poker players around the world?

First there was this, then Phil Hellmuth did this and now Doug “WCGRider” Polk is getting in on the action as well (Ok, ok it’s technically Mezcal).

Did someone lose a bet or something? It appears Kimo Sabe Mezcal is all-in for poker. Look out Milwaukee’s Best!

Jumping in with Phil Hellmuth @beingthegreatest for a quick @KimoSabeMezcal commercial.
