Daily 3-Bet: APAC Bling, Awesome 20, Ivey is God
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is the hidden bonus track on the last disc of the afternoon poker news "Sounds from the Felt" compilation.
Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.
Today in the 3-Bet we find a glimpse of the flashy hardware available at the first-ever WSOP APAC, Gavin Smith and Wicked Chops pronounce the 20 most awesome people in poker and Phil Ivey stars in the first deleted scene from the new BET RAISE FOLD documentary.
1) APAC Bling, Negreanu on Accumulator
You can question the value of a WSOP bracelet as a primary benchmark for "success" in poker, but there's no denying it's a sweet, sweet piece of hardware.
Not exactly for wearing around while you run errands on the weekend, but still a pretty sweet souvenir of likely one of your best moments ever in poker.
If you don't believe it, check the pic tweeted by Joe Hachem showing what's up for grabs at the first-ever WSOP APAC.
FYI, in case you missed it, the first event is now two days in and we've been all over the live coverage down in Australia.
Check our live updates here, brilliantly provided by the team at Poker Asia Pacific.
Check our daily video below featuring Daniel Negrenau's thoughts on the new "Accumulator" format of Event 1.
2) Gavin Smith and Wicked Chops Talk Awesome
It was hard to come up with a full 20, apparently, but in response to the annual Bluff Power 20 Wicked Chops and Gavin Smith decided to name Poker’s “Awesome 20” and do a podcast about it.
As you might expect given the hosts, it's a very enjoyable listen.
Poker characters to make the list include poker agent Brian Balsbaugh, the Southern District of New York (no lie), WSOP impresario Ty Stewart, Nolan Dalla and Anthony Holden.
Spoiler Alert: Smith's #1? The one and only JRB, aka Bobby Bellande, aka BrokeLivingJRB.
Agree or not, Smith’s incredulousness analysis of JRB’s awesomeness might be the best 2 minutes we've heard on a poker podcast in 2013.
How does JRB do it? Part charisma, part staking, part who really knows ... but the legend of JRB is one for poker’s annals.
Listen to the full podcast here.
3) Ivey is God - Deleted Clip from BET RAISE FOLD
First things first - if you're a poker fan and have been anticipating the release of BOOM!, the online poker documentary, it's now called BET RAISE FOLD and is due out this summer.
An updated trailer was released yesterday, which you can see below, and it was followed up today with the release of a deleted scene.
Called Ivey is God, it's essentially a minute or so of people in poker explaining why Ivey is awesome. So yeah, likely superfluous. Clips below:
