Crystal Casino and Bicycle event built for two

Heads-up poker is in the midst of a moment in the sun, and the light will be radiating from two Los Angeles casinos - the Crystal Casino and Hotel and the legendary Bicycle Casino - Feb. 5-8, as 64 of the world's best will go one-on-one for $640,000.

If the numbers above didn't already tip you off, the buy-in will be $10,000, and three days of heads-up Texas Hold'em matches are set to determine, as they're calling it, the "World Heads Up Champion."

A live pairing party kicks things off Feb. 5, hosted by Yosh's Sushi Bar in the Bicycle Casino. Players will be divided into four international brackets with 16 players each, and then randomly paired against a first-round opponent.

The action will then start the next day down the street at the Crystal Casino & Hotel on eight, one-on-one poker tables and continue until a champ is named on the final day, Feb. 8.

All the action will be televised and broadcast live on the Internet, on and The public is also invited to show up and watch the event live, but seating will be limited.

Up to four of the seats will be represented by No-Limit Hold'em satellite winners from the Bicycle, while the rest of the field is a veritable who's who of poker, including Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Joe Hachem, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Antonio Esfandiari, Michael Mizrachi, Phil Ivey and Jennifer Harman.
